About Chris

I am Chris Bowley and I created Classic Country Weddings out of my passion for music and enjoyment of entertaining people.

Growing up in the Kentish countryside with my wife, Miriam and children Tabitha and Sebastian, I have been fortunate to expand what has grown from a hobby into a successful business. I have DJ’d for over 20 years, starting off for fun with friends, progressing to parties and dinner dances. My involvement in Kent Young Farmers honed my public speaking skills.

The demand from friends grew, so I upped my game. Originally named Simply Sound Events, my discos gained good reputation and this has continued to grow. I found that my true passion though was weddings. My rural links found me taking a keen interest in country weddings and thus Classic Country Weddings was formed. My service is continually developing, but it has often been stated as being so much more than just a disco. From the first consultation right through to the big day I get involved in the detail, I help plan and coordinate their big day.

I am not a “plug and play” DJ. I want to understand and immerse myself in the detail, learning what each client wants, using my experience and offering advice, sharing my knowledge during consultations. I have even been hired for my Master of Ceremonies service alone when the couple wanted a live band but wanted me there to help plan and run their day.

I like to think that I am creative with ideas about giving a wedding that wow factor and I like to also think that I am quick to react when something needs doing or respond when something isn’t going to plan, to bring things right often with minimal impact or awareness of the guests.

I’m a one-man band not an agency or multi-op, I don’t intend to change this, because the big element of the service sold is ‘me’. However, I have close colleagues to hand in the event of additional cover being required.

Ultimately I like to think I am a go-to kind of guy, someone that cares to get it done and done properly but someone that can think on their toes and has pride in working for others to please and entertain them.

So what makes me different?

I bring that personal touch. From introducing the couple into the room, looking after the guests, liaising with the chef and photographers to ensure all are on the same page. Regarding the disco and music, I really pay attention to the client. Music is key and reviewed at length to capture family favourites, uni anthems and stag do memories. I also advise on unsuitable choices for the dance floor.

I have invested time and money creating my disco with its high-profile appearance. I control my lighting via a second laptop so I can set the mood and tempo accordingly. Music is a journey and your guests need to enjoy the ride and be excited. I plan for a big finale finish, sending everyone home with a smile on their face.
I’m attentive to all, dealing with issues without fuss, often thinking on my toes to deal with the unexpected, keeping the day controlled and managed. I bring a spark of fun, in a relaxed organised way which is one of my key attributes I’ve been thanked for.

Do I know everything? Absolutely not, there is always room to learn and improve. I am a member of SEDA (South Eastern Discotheque Association) where I have learnt lots of skills, attending various courses and seminars.

But am I good at what I do and do I enjoy what I do? Yes, passionately.
